KnowledgePoints Learning Center Offers Tips for Parents to

Help Murdock Elementary Students Ease the Back-to-School Transition

 Roswell, Ga -- For many students and their parents, adjusting from the relaxed pace of summer vacation to the structure and pressures of the new school year can be challenging. Jennifer Honigsblum, Director of Learning at the Shallowford KnowledgePoints, offers the following tips for parents to help ease the transition for their children anxious about returning to school.

 Setting Your Child Up for Success:

bullet Visit the school to help ease anxiety
bullet Meet with his/her teacher before the first day of school
bullet Start daily routines that will continue once school begins
bullet Set goals with your child about the upcoming year

 Creating a Positive Mindset for the New School Year:

bullet Be enthusiastic about school starting
bullet Help your child feel successful
bullet Be a good role model
bullet Do something special on his/her first day back

 Establishing Initial Parent/Teacher Relationships:

bullet Develop a good relationship with your child’s teacher
bullet Communicate with your child about his/her school day
bullet Become aware of school policies and share these with your child

 Instilling the Right Habits and Routines from the Get-Go

bullet Teach your child to be organized
bullet Create a good homework and study routine
bullet Encourage your child to read for enjoyment
